PHSE

At St Germans Primary School, our intent through PSHE is to help children to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of the world around them in order to enable them develop as young citizens. In an ever changing world, it is important that they are aware, at an appropriate level, of different factors which will affect their world and that they learn how to deal with these so that they have good mental health and well-being.

PSHE is taught throughout the school in such a way as to reflect the overall aims, values, and ethos of the school. At St Germans School, PSHE plays an important role, along with all other curriculum areas, in promoting the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our children.

At St Germans School we have purchased a scheme of work to cover all aspects of the PSHE curriculum including RSE. This scheme is called Jigsaw. There are 6 different puzzles (two per term) made up of six pieces (lessons)

We use the scheme on a rolling programme over two years to support the mixed age classes within the school and to ensure coverage of all aspects. Some subjects require age targeted  lessons such as RSE and this is taught seperately to the relevant age groups
