Welcome to Penguins
The Penguins class is taught by Mrs Hewlings and supported by Mrs Barrett. In addition, we have other adults who assist children in the class. These are Mrs Baigent and Mr Simpson
We are a year 3 and 4 class. On our class page we will be able to share some information with you, let you know what we are doing and post photographs when we can.
This term our topic is 'Keen to be Green'. Part of this involves finding out about 'Children in World War II.' We will be linking this to our environmental theme by learning about what it was like to be an evacuee, rationing, how people sheltered from the bombing and about the 'Dig for Victory' and 'Make do and Mend' campaigns.
We are very excited about making our 'Dig for Victory' garden. We are going to use the produce from our garden to design and make war times meals, taking into account other rationed ingredients. If you are able to help with the digging and preparing of the ground or have any spare seedlings this would be a great help.
In DT we will be designing and making a rag rug. If anyone has any odd scraps of material they no longer need, please send these in to Mrs Hewlings.
During the summer term our class goes on a school trip which ties in with something we have been learning about. Watch this space for further details.
We work very hard in Penguins class but we also have a lot of fun. We particulary enjoy learning through topics as we get to do lots of different activities.
