Do you know what everyday life like for the ordinary people living in the 1800s?  Have you heard of the Penny Black?  What type of food were known as 'little bags of mystery' in Victorian Times?

Did you know that in the Victorian Era about 15 million people emigrated from Great Britain to other countries, mostly to the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa?

LIGHT

  • Light rays travel in a straight line from a light source, reflects off an object and into our eyes.

  • Reflection is the process of light bouncing off a surface. Only shiny objects like metal reflect light.

  • When light travels from air through water, glass or anything that lets light through, it gets bent. This bending is called refraction.

  • White light is made up of different coloured light.

  • You can see these colours when white light travels through a prism. The colour of an object depends on the colour of light it reflects

  • Shadows are created when an opaque (non see-through) object blocks the light source.

  • Shadows change depending on the distance the object is from the light source and the position of the light source
